Canada Visa passport photo size & rules
For a Canadian visa or temporary resident visa handled by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), your photo must follow the official IRCC photo specifications. The required size is 35x45mm, equal to 413x531 pixels at 300 dpi, and the frame must show the full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin. IRCC also expects the photo to be recent, taken within the last six months, and consistent with your current appearance.
IRCC requires a plain white or light-coloured background with a clear difference between your face and the backdrop. The height of your head, measured from chin to crown, must be between 31mm and 36mm. Keep a neutral facial expression with your mouth closed, look directly at the camera, and ensure the face and both edges of the face are visible. Glasses are permitted only if they do not cause glare and the eyes remain clearly visible, and head coverings are accepted only for religious reasons. Uploaded photos for online IRCC applications must not be altered.
Pixohub builds your Canada visa photo entirely in your browser with no upload, so the image stays private on your device, and the tool is free. IRCC guidance can be revised, so always verify the current official Canada visa photo requirements on the IRCC website before submitting your visa application online or by paper.
