UK Visa passport photo size & rules
When you apply for a UK visa through UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and the Home Office, you must provide a photograph that meets the official digital photo standard. The standard size is 35x45mm, equal to 413x531 pixels at 300 dpi. The photo must be clear, in colour, taken within the last month, and accurately represent your current appearance for the UK visa application and biometric enrolment. The same specification applies across visit, study, work, and family visa routes handled through UKVI.
UKVI requires a plain light grey or cream background with no shadows behind or across the face. You must face forward and look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed. Do not wear head coverings unless worn for religious or medical reasons, and remove sunglasses or tinted lenses. Your eyes must be open and clearly visible, hair should not cover the face, and the photo must not be edited to change your appearance. Photos taken at the visa application centre may replace this image during biometrics.
Pixohub prepares your UK visa photo fully in your browser with no upload, so your picture remains private on your device, and the service is free to use. Immigration standards can be updated, so always verify the current official UK visa photo requirements on the GOV.UK and UKVI guidance before submitting your application or attending your appointment.
