Brazil passport photo size & rules
Brazil uses a large 50x70mm (5x7cm) photo format for passports and many visa and consular procedures, equal to 590x826 pixels at 300 dpi. This is considerably larger and taller than the European 35x45mm standard, so a photo prepared for a Schengen visa or a US passport will not meet the Brazilian size. The Policia Federal, which issues Brazilian passports, requires the face to be well centred and proportioned within this tall frame.
The background must be plain white and uniform, brightly and evenly lit so no shadow appears behind the head. Face the camera directly with a neutral expression and mouth closed, both eyes open and clearly visible, ears preferably shown, and no hair across the face. Brazil asks for a recent colour photo that clearly reflects your current appearance. Glasses are best removed to avoid reflections, and hats or head coverings are not accepted except for religious reasons, provided the full face remains visible. For online visa applications processed through Brazilian consular systems, the digital file must also meet the platform's size and format rules.
Pixohub sizes your Brazilian passport or visa photo to the 50x70mm / 590x826 pixel format directly in your browser, so your image is never uploaded and stays private on your device, and the tool is free. Requirements from the Policia Federal and Brazilian consulates are updated over time and can differ by procedure. Always confirm the current official specifications on gov.br or with the specific consulate before printing or submitting your photo.
